List of Former TNI Commanders Gather at Ministry of Defence, from Wiranto to Gatot

Several former TNI Commanders and retired generals gathered at the Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) on Friday (24/4) afternoon. They held a meeting with Defence Minister (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto was also present at the meeting titled Silaturahmi Purnawirawan TNI. From observations, the former TNI Commanders in attendance included Wiranto, Gatot Nurmantyo, Andika Perkasa, Agus Suhartono, Yudo Margono, and Djoko Suyanto. Also present were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita. Leaders of the three services were also seen attending, namely Navy Chief Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief Marshal Tonny Harjono, and Army Chief Lieutenant General Maruli Simanjuntak. Before the meeting proceeded, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stated that he would convey strategic defence information to the retired TNI leaders. “Then after that, the TNI Commander will also explain the essences that need to be known by the elders and senior TNI retirees,” Sjafrie said when opening the meeting. Sjafrie, who is also a TNI retiree with the honorary general title, admitted that over the past two years, the government has been working on building the country’s defence strength, particularly the development of TNI capabilities. “So far, we have not provided much various information to the public, because this national defence building does require some attention related to publications,” he said.
