PT PLN (Persero) has emphasised that there is no increase in electricity tariffs for June 2026. This statement follows widespread complaints from netizens on social media claiming to have experienced surges in electricity bills recently.

Gregorius Adi Trianto, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR at PT PLN (Persero), stated that the electricity tariffs applicable for the April-June 2026 period remain unchanged compared to the previous period. “PLN consistently implements electricity tariff policies as determined by the Government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). For the April-June 2026 period, electricity tariffs remain stable and have not changed from the previous period,” Gregorius told CNBC Indonesia.

He noted that if customers experience higher bills, it is not due to tariff hikes but rather changes in electricity consumption patterns. “The increase in bills felt by some customers may be influenced by changes in consumption patterns due to factors such as weather conditions, rising temperatures, and increased household activities, leading to higher daily use of electrical appliances,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of ESDM, Tri Winarno, stated that the government continues to conduct regular monitoring of economic parameters, such as the strengthening of the US Dollar against the Rupiah. However, there has been no official determination regarding tariff adjustments for customers at this time.

The US Dollar is one of the indicators used for the tariff adjustment process by PT PLN (Persero), alongside inflation, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), and coal prices. “Evaluations are certainly being conducted. But whether they will rise or not, there is no decision yet,” Tri said when met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta.

The government is striving to provide protection for low-income communities to ensure they are not burdened by rising energy prices amidst global economic pressures. The government remains committed to maintaining public purchasing power. “For electricity, specifically for those in great need and the underprivileged, we must ensure prices do not rise,” Tri remarked. He emphasised that tariff adjustments do not depend on a single indicator like currency exchange rates and confirmed that, for now, tariffs remain unchanged.
