Accident-prone road segments during the 2026 Eid homecoming surge in Jakarta and its surroundings have been identified and mapped by the police.

The public has been urged to exercise greater caution when traversing several road sections, particularly arterial routes.

Komarudin, Director of Traffic at Jakarta Metro Police, stated that the homecoming surge is expected to intensify beginning Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

“There are several locations with accident-prone potential. We are particularly concerned about arterial routes,” Komarudin told journalists on Friday, 13 March 2026.

According to Komarudin, arterial routes require special attention because vehicle volumes are expected to increase as the homecoming journey commences.

Consequently, road users are urged to remain cautious, particularly given unstable weather conditions.

Additionally, riders are requested not to carry excessive loads during their journey.

“Luggage should not be too much, and passengers should also be monitored carefully,” said Komarudin.

Based on surveys from previous years, the majority of the public typically begins their homecoming journey at two primary times: late evening after Tarawih prayers and early morning following Subuh prayers.

“Our community typically departs for homecoming at two times when most people travel, namely late evening after Tarawih prayers and very early morning after Subuh prayers,” said a representative of the National Police Traffic Corps.

Consequently, the public is advised to select alternative departure times to avoid being caught in vehicle surge during peak hours.

Meanwhile, the peak return traffic surge is estimated to occur on 24–25 March, with a second wave on 28–29 March 2026.

To secure the homecoming and return traffic surge for Eid 2026, the police are deploying 6,802 personnel.

Additionally, police have prepared 68 security posts consisting of Pos Pam (Security Posts), Pos Yan (Service Posts), and monitoring posts at various locations.

This measure is being undertaken to monitor traffic conditions whilst assisting homebound travellers requiring services during their journey.
