The government together with toll road operators are opening six toll road sections free of charge during the 2026 Eid mudik (homecoming) period. This policy is implemented to support the smooth flow of traffic during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

A total of six functional toll sections spanning 198 kilometres along the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra routes will be opened free of charge during the 2026 Eid holiday period, as reported by Antara on Friday (27 February 2026). This is intended to facilitate the flow of homecoming traffic.

List of 6 Free Toll Sections

The following is a list of six free toll sections that will be opened during the 2026 Eid mudik:

  • Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Section 1

This section on the Trans Sumatra route is 23.9 kilometres long and is operated by Hutama Karya.

  • Palembang-Betung Toll Sections 1 and 2

Also on the Trans Sumatra route, this section is 53.6 kilometres long and is one of the important access points in South Sumatra.

  • Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll

On the Trans Java route, this section is 54.75 kilometres long and is operated by Jasa Marga. This section is expected to help distribute vehicle flow from the Jakarta direction towards West Java.

  • Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll

This toll section, 4.85 kilometres long, forms part of the Trans Java network connecting the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java.

  • Yogyakarta-Solo Toll

This toll is 11.48 kilometres long and serves as an alternative route for homecoming travellers from and to Yogyakarta.

  • Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Phase I

This section, 49.68 kilometres long, supports connectivity in eastern East Java during the mudik period.

Benefits of Free Toll Rate Implementation

The opening of functional toll roads free of charge during the 2026 Eid holiday is carried out to help distribute traffic, particularly at junction points that have historically been sources of congestion.

This policy provides an opportunity for homecoming travellers to more flexibly arrange their travel schedules. Additionally, travel costs can be reduced and the potential for traffic congestion on several major routes can be decreased.

β€œFor functional free tolls, the opening of functional toll roads is carried out to help distribute traffic, especially at the junction points of vehicle flows that have historically been sources of congestion,” said Jasa Marga Chief Executive Officer Rivan A Purwantono, as reported by Antara on Friday (27 February 2026).

Readiness and Advisories for Toll Users

In preparation for 2026 Eid, 136 rest and service areas, 189 public electric vehicle charging stations, and 539 toll gates have been prepared to support smooth traffic flow.

Toll road users are advised to comply with the traffic signs that are installed. The maximum speed limit applied on functional toll sections is 60 kilometres per hour. Homecoming travellers are also asked to ensure their electronic money balance is sufficient before entering a toll gate.
