List of 4 Indonesian Toll Roads Capable of Landing F-16 Fighter Jets
The government is discreetly preparing several toll road sections to be used as emergency landing strips for Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) fighter jets under certain conditions. One of the aircraft prepared to utilise these facilities is the F-16 fighter jet.
The Ministry of Public Works (PU) revealed that four toll road sections are designed with a dual-use function, meaning they continue to operate normally for civilian vehicles while being capable of supporting national defence interests. The four prepared toll roads include the Banda Aceh-Sigli Toll Road, the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road, the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (Terpeka) Toll Road, and the Probolisinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road.
Of these four sections, the Terpeka Toll Road was successfully used for a trial landing and takeoff of EMB-314 Super Tucano and F-16 fighter jets on 11 February 2026. “This trial marked the first landing of fighter aircraft on an Indonesian toll road section,” the Ministry of Public Works wrote on its official Instagram account.
The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, stated that infrastructure development is not only intended to serve public mobility and logistics distribution but must also provide strategic value for national interests. This dual-use concept reflects the optimisation of infrastructure investment to provide broader benefits, both for economic development and the strengthening of the national defence system.
