Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro in a sting operation (OTT) in Pemalang, Central Java, on Wednesday evening (29 July 2026).
A number of individuals were secured and taken directly to the Pemalang Police Headquarters for questioning.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that of the total, five people were secured in Jakarta, whilst 16 others were secured in Pemalang and Purworejo.
Following the sting operation, the KPK also sealed several locations allegedly connected to the case, namely the office of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) of Pemalang Regency as well as two houses in the Mutiara Residence housing estate. One of the sealed houses is said to belong to a contractor with the initials O, who is also a relative of Regent Anom. As of Wednesday morning, there was no confirmation on whether the Pemalang Regent’s office would also be sealed.
With this arrest, the number of district/city-level regional heads implicated in corruption cases throughout 2026 continues to grow.
From the start of 2026 up to 29 July 2026, at least 12 regents and mayors have been secured or named as suspects by the KPK.
