List of 10 Popular Herbal Medicines on Online Marketplaces Found to be Illegal
BPOM discovered that ten popular herbal medicines sold on online marketplaces were, in fact, illegal. This finding is based on monitoring conducted throughout 2025.
As reported by detikHealth, BPOM has confirmed that the links selling these products have been taken down. The agency has also collaborated with the Ministry of Communication and Digital, as well as the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA), in the process of removing these products.
“In addition to being illegal, some of these products also contain dangerous chemical ingredients!” BPOM stated in a post on its official Instagram account on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).
Here are the ten most widely circulated illegal herbal medicine products on online marketplaces:
- Ramuan China Buah Merah Papua
631,881 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Cilacap Regency. The product originates from Indonesia and contains paracetamol and caffeine.
- Zudaifu
369,029 units sold. The highest number of sales were in West Jakarta. The product originates from China and contains clobetasol.
- Kapsul Jamu Pelangsing (KJP)
226,504 units sold. The highest number of sales were in West Jakarta. The product originates from Indonesia.
- JAWARA Kapsul
157,380 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Malang City. The product originates from Indonesia and contains sildenafil citrate and paracetamol.
- Samyun Wan Kapsul
151,021 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Tangerang Regency. The product originates from China and contains cyproheptadine.
- NR New Rempah
129,989 units sold. The highest number of sales were in North Jakarta. The product originates from Indonesia and contains paracetamol and sibutramine.
- Kapsul Racikan Jamu Biji Angkak
112,982 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Tangerang Regency. The product originates from Indonesia.
- Fung Seh Gu Tong Wan
109,119 units sold. The highest number of sales were in West Jakarta. The product originates from China and contains dexamethasone, piroxicam, and prednisone.
- Tawon Serbuk
101,664 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Lamongan Regency. The product originates from Indonesia and contains piroxicam, paracetamol, and diclofenac.
- Jamu Gemuk Herbal Incess
100,154 units sold. The highest number of sales were in Balikpapan City. The product originates from Indonesia.
It is known that herbal medicines are prohibited from containing chemical ingredients, such as sildenafil citrate, paracetamol, and phenylbutazone. The use of these chemical ingredients is considered to be able to trigger various diseases, including heart attacks and kidney failure.
“Mixing herbal medicines with chemical ingredients can cause unstable blood pressure, heart attacks, liver and kidney damage, and even death,” said BPOM RI.
