Liquidity Rises, Money Supply Surpasses Rp 10.355 Trillion
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bank Indonesia recorded an increase in economic liquidity in March 2026. The broad money supply or M2 grew higher compared to the previous month.
Director of the BI Communication Department, Anton Pitono, stated that M2 grew 9.7% year-on-year. This figure rose from 8.7% in February 2026. The total M2 value reached Rp 10.355.1 trillion.
“Economic liquidity or the broad money supply (M2) in March 2026 grew higher,” he said in an official statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).
This development was influenced by two main factors. Net claims on the central government increased significantly. Credit disbursements also continued to grow.
Credit was recorded to grow 8.9% year-on-year. This figure was relatively stable compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, net claims on the central government surged 39.2%, much higher than February’s 25.6%.
The rise in claims on the government reflects a more expansive fiscal role in driving liquidity. On the other hand, credit indicates that banking intermediation activity remains ongoing.
The combination of these fiscal and credit factors shows that liquidity remains loose. This condition provides room for economic activity, but it still needs to be maintained to avoid triggering inflationary pressures in the future.
