Lippo to Donate Meikarta Land to State, Managed by Danantara
Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait has revealed that donated land in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, West Java, will be utilised for the construction of decent and affordable housing for the public. “The Head of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI), Mr Rosan Roeslani, and the Head of the SOE Management Agency (BP BUMN), Mr Dony Oskaria, will later support the utilisation of this land in accordance with the President’s directive, which is to provide decent and affordable housing for the Indonesian people,” Maruarar stated in Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026).
Maruarar, familiarly known as Ara, also disclosed that the land grant is ready to be officially handed over to the state. “On Monday (29/6/2026), there will be an official handover ceremony of the land from Lippo Group to the state,” he said. He added that the handover process will take place at the Danantara Building in Jakarta.
On the same occasion, Head of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) Rosan Roeslani expressed hope that the development of decent and affordable housing in the area would help low-income communities obtain adequate shelter. “This is very important because it provides great benefits, especially for low-income communities, so they can obtain their right to a decent and good place to live. Decent housing is indeed a right of the people,” Rosan stated.
For context, Maruarar emphasised that the government continues to encourage various innovations in providing affordable vertical housing, particularly in Jakarta’s buffer zones. The government wants low-income communities to have access to decent, affordable housing close to centres of economic activity and workplaces. According to him, the construction of subsidised flats (rusun) is an important solution to address the housing backlog as well as land limitations in urban areas. Vertical housing such as subsidised flats is the solution of the future, especially in areas with high housing demand and continuously rising land prices.
