The government is accelerating the provision of decent housing for low-income communities through the development of subsidised apartments in the Meikarta area, Cikarang. To ensure the entire process adheres to good governance principles, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, together with Head of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara Rosan Roeslani and Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria, held consultations with Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh at the BPKP office in East Jakarta on Monday (22/6/2026). The meeting discussed governance aspects, legal certainty, and the mechanism for the land grant from Lippo Group to support the construction of subsidised apartments for the public. Other housing programmes, both ongoing and planned, were also discussed to ensure they have a strong, transparent, and accountable legal basis. Strategic issues related to the completion of the Meikarta apartment towers were addressed, including the acceleration of due diligence on land legality currently being conducted by Danantara, the completion of the land grant handover, the appointment of the state-owned enterprise executor, the determination of the selling price for subsidised apartment units, and the discussion of a Presidential Instruction initiated by Danantara to expedite programme implementation. Minister Maruarar Sirait emphasised that the consultation with BPKP was to ensure the entire grant process complies with regulations and proper governance principles. He stated that various alternative grant mechanisms were discussed, prioritising legal certainty, security, and public benefit. Following the discussion, it was agreed that the land grant from Lippo Group in the Meikarta area would be handed over to the State through the Ministry of Finance, specifically the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN). The asset will then be transferred to Danantara and subsequently to the state-owned enterprise assigned to build and manage the subsidised apartments. The grant scheme is non-profit and entirely dedicated to supporting the provision of affordable housing for low-income communities. The government hopes this step will serve as a model for collaboration between the government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector in supporting the national priority programme of building 3 million homes. Head of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani expressed his appreciation for the support from all parties, ensuring the process proceeds according to procedure and with due prudence. He added that the programme has significant social impact by providing opportunities for low-income communities to obtain decent and affordable housing. The official handover ceremony for the land grant from Lippo Group to the State is scheduled for Monday, 22 June 2026 at 15:00 WIB at the Danantara Building, 3rd Floor, Jakarta.
