Lippo Bank service
On Nov. 11, 1995 my mother withdrew money through the ATM at
the Sunter Agung Podomoro branch of the Lippo bank in North
Jakarta. The machine announced that the allowable withdrawal was
limited to Rp 200,000. As my mother needed Rp 400,000, she went
through the procedure twice. Her first withdrawal was okay, but
the second withdrawal did not succeed, leaving her with only Rp
200,000.
Then, on Dec. 7, 1995, when my mother received her bank
statement, she was surprised to see that Rp 400,000 had been
deducted to the previous amount. She reported the error to the
bank on Dec. 11, 1995. The bank told her to wait until she
received the next current account in two weeks because the case
had to be reported to the central office.
The next current account came on Jan. 12, 1996, still showing
no correction of the ATM fault. My mother then went to the
central Lippo bank to report the matter. They admitted that an
error had occurred with the machine. On Jan. 17, 1996, Yosita of
the ATM department told my mother that she would be informed by
phone when the mistake had been corrected.
However, by Jan.22, 1996, the bank had not corrected the
error. My mother is very disappointed with the way Lippo Bank
deals with its customers.
