LIPI seeks coral reef ambassadors
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) is seeking a pair of school-age children from each province to be trained as ambassadors with the mission to promote coral reef protection among children.
"As ambassadors, the chosen pairs will be assigned to campaign for the protection of coral reefs, which have been under threat in several provinces," Oemi Atiyah said in a press release here on Friday.
She said the selection was still under way.
Contenders must be aged between 11 and 14, have performed well in their studies and have some knowledge of the marine environment.
Oemi said the winners would be announced immediately and be invited to Jakarta to exchange their experiences of marine conservation and coral reef protection. -- Antara
