Lion Parcel Launches Minipack for Lightweight Parcels with Fair Pricing

Jakarta, VIVA – Lion Parcel has launched Minipack, a new delivery service specifically for lightweight parcels with a maximum weight of 300 grams, offering more economical rates without following the standard 1 kilogram (kg) weight rounding rule.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Lion Parcel, Kenny Kwanto, stated that this service serves as a more efficient shipping solution for the public, including business owners who regularly ship lightweight products. He acknowledged that, previously, shipments weighing under 1kg were generally charged at the minimum 1kg rate. Amidst the high volume of lightweight goods being sent—such as documents, accessories, and cosmetics—this condition often posed challenges for customers who had to pay shipping costs that did not reflect the actual weight of the items.

“Many customers expressed feeling as though they were ‘paying for air’ because the rates paid did not reflect the actual weight of the package being sent,” Kenny said in a statement on Friday, 5 June 2026.

To address the need for fairer and more affordable shipping costs, Lion Parcel introduced Minipack as a specialised delivery service for lightweight packages up to 300 grams. Through this innovation, customers can ship packages more efficiently and economically without sacrificing service quality, as the Service Level Agreement (SLA) remains equivalent to Lion Parcel’s regular service.

For example, if the shipping cost from Jakarta to Makassar via regular service is Rp 46,000 per kg, with Minipack, customers only need to pay Rp 23,000, representing savings of up to 50 per cent. This efficiency can also be enjoyed by customers on various other shipping routes across Indonesia.

“We understand that every gram is precious to our customers. In various interactions, we often hear about the challenges faced when they have to pay a 1kg rate for packages that are actually very light, with some even referring to it as ‘paying for air’,” said Kenny.

“Through the Minipack service, Lion Parcel aims to provide fair pricing so that customers only pay according to their specific shipping needs, while simultaneously supporting the growth of businesses, particularly MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises),” he added.

For information, the Minipack service can be easily accessed through the Lion Parcel Agent network across Indonesia, as well as via the Lion Parcel application. The service is also supported by Cash on Delivery (COD) and COD Ongkir payment methods. Specifically for shipments using the COD Ongkir method, customers can enjoy the ‘Pay Shipping on Delivery’ programme, with a guarantee of no payment if delayed*.
