Lion Parcel, one of Indonesia’s logistics companies, has officially launched MINIP_ACK, a new delivery service specifically for lightweight packages with a maximum weight of 300 grams. This service offers more economical rates by removing the requirement to follow the standard 1-kilogram weight rounding. The service is presented as a more efficient shipping solution for the public, including business operators who regularly ship lightweight products.

Previously, shipping packages weighing under 1 kilogram was generally subject to a minimum 1-kilogram rate. Amidst the high volume of lightweight shipments such as documents, accessories, and cosmetics, this condition often posed challenges for customers, who had to pay shipping costs that did not reflect the actual weight of the goods. Many customers expressed frustration, feeling as though they were ‘paying for air’ because the rates paid did not reflect the actual weight of the packages sent.

To address the need for fairer and more affordable shipping costs, Lion Parcel introduced MINIPACK, a delivery service specifically for lightweight packages up to 300 grams. Through this innovation, customers can ship packages more efficiently and economically without sacrificing service quality, as the delivery service level agreement (SLA) remains equivalent to Lion Parcel’s regular service.

For example, the shipping cost for a Jakarta-Makassar route using the regular service is Rp 46,000 per kilogram. With MINIPACK, customers only need to pay Rp 23,000, representing savings of up to 50 per cent. This efficiency can also be enjoyed by customers on various other shipping routes across Indonesia.

Lion Parcel understands that every gram is precious to its customers. In various interactions, the company frequently heard about the challenges faced when customers had to pay a 1-kilogram rate for packages that were actually very light.

“Through MINIPACK, Lion Parcel aims to introduce fair pricing so that customers only pay according to their specific shipping needs, while simultaneously supporting the growth of business operators, particularly MSMEs,” said Lion Parcel Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Kwanto during a press conference on Thursday (4/6/2026).

Amidst the rapid growth of online business, the role of logistics is a vital component in supporting business continuity. High shipping costs often present a challenge that influences consumer purchasing decisions. Therefore, the presence of MINIPACK is expected to help maintain public purchasing power and increase the competitiveness of business operators, especially MSMEs and online sellers, through shipping cost efficiency.

Meanwhile, Lion Parcel Chief Retail Officer Febri Andika added that MINIPACK was developed based on customer needs identified through Lion Parcel’s agent networks in various regions. The demand for lightweight package delivery services with more efficient shipping costs continues to rise alongside the growth of online shopping activities and the shipment of small-sized products.
