Lion Air Plans Non-stop Makassar-Kuala Lumpur flights
LionAir plans to launch a non-stop international route from Makassar to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This initiative is part of the airline’s service expansion.
‘The Kuala Lumpur route is designed to provide options for those intending to perform Umrah pilgrimage, with connecting flights operated by Batik Air to Saudi Arabia,’ said Danang Mandala Prihantoro, head of Corporate Communications Strategy at Lion Air Group, citing Antara on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
In addition to Umrah purposes, the route aims to cater to tourism, particularly shopping-oriented tourists. The airline also expects the new route to attract more international tourists.
Currently, flights to Jeddah operate six times a week.
