Lion Air Now Flies Daily from Lombok to Malaysia, Facilitating Umrah Travel
Lion Air has officially commenced direct international flights from Lombok International Airport (LOP) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), Malaysia. The service began on 1 July 2026.
The new route provides greater convenience for residents travelling abroad for religious purposes, tourism, education, or business activities.
“For prospective Umrah pilgrims, this route offers a more practical travel alternative. From Kuala Lumpur, passengers can connect to flights bound for Jeddah, making the journey to the Holy Land easier and more efficient,” said Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air.
In the tourism sector, the direct flight is expected to increase the number of international visitors to Lombok. Premier destinations such as the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, the Gili Islands (Trawangan, Meno, Air), Mount Rinjani, geopark areas, tourist villages, and the cultural heritage of the Sasak people are now more accessible to travellers from various countries.
Conversely, residents of West Nusa Tenggara now enjoy broader international access. Students pursuing studies abroad, entrepreneurs expanding business networks, professionals with international mobility, and those visiting family overseas can all benefit from more practical flight options without needing to transit through major Indonesian cities.
