Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has declared certain lines of business closed to investment under Presidential Ruling No 36 of 2010 as of May 25, 2010, Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said here on Wednesday.

In agriculture, closed to investment is raising marijuana, while in forestry it is the fishing of fish mentioned in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna dan Flora (CITES), and taking coral reefs for use as building material.

Closed to investment in industry are alcoholic drinks, alkali chlorine with mercury process, and chemicals which damages the environment.

In the transportation sector, closed to investment are the operation of land terminals, truck weighing stations, motor vehicle testing, shipping navigation supporting telecommunication/navigational means, vessel traffic information systems, and air traffic guidance services.

In the communications and information sector, closed to investment is the management of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.

In the culture and tourism sector, closed to investment are government museums, historical and ancient legacies, traditional environments, monuments, and casinos.

Those closed to investment could be used for noncommercial purposes like research and development with the permission of the government. (*)
