Linda death toll has risen to 43

BANGKOK (Reuters): Police in southern Thailand said yesterday
the death toll from typhoon Linda had risen to at least 43 with
more bodies of Thai fishermen expected to be washed ashore in the
next few days.

Police in southern Chumpon province told Reuters by telephone
that bodies of eight more victims of the typhoon, which hit the
Gulf of Thailand more than a week ago, floated to a beach
yesterday bringing to 43 the total number of dead fishermen found
since Nov. 10.

They said marine police vessels and private trawlers reported
citing more bodies floating offshore of Chumpon's three districts
but it may take a few more days for choppy waters to carry them
ashore.
