Limited Train Baggage: KAI Asks Passengers to Send Lebaran Souvenirs Separately
For those planning to travel home for Lebaran by train and bring many souvenirs from their hometown, it is advisable to know these rules first. Currently, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) stipulates a maximum cabin baggage weight of 20 kilograms per passenger. Passengers’ carried items must not exceed a maximum volume of 100 cubic decimetres with maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm. With these provisions, luggage up to 26 inches can still be placed on the baggage rack. The fares range from Rp 10,000 per kilogram for executive class, Rp 6,000 per kilogram for business class, and Rp 2,000 per kilogram for economy class. Meanwhile, items with dimensions exceeding 200 cubic decimetres are not permitted in the train cabin. KAI also reminds that pets are not included in the category of carried items and are prohibited from being brought into the train. These regulations are enforced to maintain the safety and comfort of all customers during the journey. “We understand that customers want to bring various souvenirs for their families. However, to keep the journey comfortable, it is important to adhere to the applicable baggage rules,” said KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba in an official statement on Sunday (22/3/2026). “If there are many items, customers can utilise KAI Logistik’s delivery service through KALOG Express,” she added.
