Limited facilities for officials
Limited facilities for officials
From Suara Karya
The government has drafted a regulation on the standardization of facilities and infrastructures for state officials, including restrictions on the use of official cars, which deserves our support.
When the rules come into force, there will be no more official cars roaming shopping malls and recreation centers, as is the case now. Apart from sedans for high-ranking government officials, operational cars will take the form of 2,000-cc minibuses.
State Minister for Administrative Reform Feisal Tamin has set an example of modest living by using a Kijang car for his office duties, which should be followed by everyone in the administration.
Official cars of the Indonesian Military and police are rarely found in public places because they are subject to regular raids, with stern action for those violating standard procedures. Such measures are worth applying to civilian officials.
Let us hope the government regulation will be enforced to guarantee the enhancement of efficiency in all central and regional government agencies.
