Limited edition 'tedong bongo' stamps

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: A limited edition stamp
featuring the tedong bongo (striped water buffalo) will be issued
to commemorate the Makassar '97 philately exhibition, to be held
here from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15.

The secretary of the exhibition's organizing committee, Husin
Mardjun, said 100,000 stamps will be issued at Rp 2,000 (67 U.S
cents) each.

"We've already got a lot of orders from collectors around the
country," he said.

Antara reported that 19 collectors have ordered 1,000 stamps
each. These orders are not likely to be fully fulfilled, since
out-of-town collectors who personally come to Ujungpandang will
receive priority. (mds)
