Jakarta (ANTARA) – A special-edition premium compact camera featuring an effective resolution of 25.74 megapixels was officially launched on Friday (23 October).

The Ricoh GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition Kit is limited to 6,000 units worldwide, with 50 allocated to the Indonesian market, said Henry Untung, Sales Manager at PT Aneka Warna Solusi Media.

“The special-edition camera was developed from the GR IV model, which was introduced in September 2025. Its design draws inspiration from the GR1, the film camera that started the series in October 1996,” he said in a press release on Saturday.

Design updates include special-colour accents on the shutter and rear buttons, a diamond-cut lens ring, and a custom graphic displayed when the camera is switched off.

In terms of specifications, the camera uses a 23.3 x 15.5-millimetre CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of around 25.74 megapixels. Its 18.3-millimetre lens is equivalent to a 28-millimetre lens in 35mm format, with an aperture range of F2.8 to F16.

The camera is also equipped with five-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation to help reduce the effects of camera shake when taking photographs. An ISO range of 100–204800 supports sensitivity adjustment, while a hybrid autofocus system assists with focusing.

The sensor, lens and focusing system are housed in a compact body, a defining feature of the camera series for three decades.

Henry said the GR series had retained three key characteristics since its introduction: image quality, fast response and portability.

Alongside the camera, the anniversary kit includes a black and light-grey genuine-leather finger strap bearing the words “30th ANNIVERSARY”, and a metallic-grey stainless-steel-alloy hot-shoe cover.

The package also includes 16 pins: 14 miniature cameras from different generations, plus two pins featuring the 30th-anniversary and GR logos.

The launch was part of the GR series’ 30th-anniversary celebrations, held under the title “The Unseen Frames in Your Pocket” at Dia.Lo.Gue Art Space & Cafe in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Friday (23 October).

The event also included the introduction of the GRist Indonesia user community and an artist talk with Imam Darto and Gading Marten.
