Limes Prepares Development of Solar Power Plant Project in NTT
Limes Renewable Energy is preparing the development of a solar power plant (PLTS) in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) as an investment foothold in renewable energy in the region. This initiative emerged during a meeting between Limes Renewable Energy representative Giovanni Cavallo, who serves as Southeast Asia Business Development Manager, and William Runturambi, Business Development Director for Indonesia. William, who also holds the position of Director of PT Energi Hijau NTT, acts as the official representative entity for Limes Renewable Energy in the NTT region. According to William, PT Energi Hijau NTT was established to strengthen local coordination while supporting project development to proceed in accordance with regulations and regional needs. “NTT has significant and strategic solar energy potential. We are committed to investing and promoting the sustainable development of clean energy,” said William Runturambi in Kupang on Tuesday (7/4). Therefore, this meeting discussed investment opportunities as well as the initial progress of clean energy projects being explored in NTT. According to William, PT Energi Hijau NTT was formed to strengthen local coordination while supporting project development to run in line with regulations and regional needs. “NTT has significant and strategic solar energy potential. We are committed to investing and promoting the sustainable development of clean energy,” he stated. As an initial step, he continued, Limes has conducted surveys in four regions, namely Kupang Regency, Belu, East Sumba, and Southwest Sumba. The surveys were carried out to assess technical readiness, site conditions, and the potential for developing utility-scale PLTS. The Head of the NTT Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Viktor Manek, welcomed the plan positively and encouraged expanding the survey coverage to other areas, including Rote Ndao Regency, which is considered to have renewable energy development potential. He assessed that accelerating the initial survey is important to identify investment opportunities while ensuring regional readiness in supporting project implementation. In the future, this collaboration is expected to continue with the preparation of feasibility studies up to the implementation stage. The development of PLTS is seen as able to strengthen regional energy resilience while driving local economic growth. With abundant solar energy potential and support from stakeholders, NTT is projected to become one of the centres for renewable energy development in Indonesia.
