Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Education and Culture Office of Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra Province, Antoni, has appreciated SMP 4 Kapur IX for quickly adjusting the implementation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) following an internet disruption caused by a power outage. The TKA at SMP 4 Kapur IX was temporarily conducted on a hill due to the internet outage from the power cut, prompting the school to promptly adapt by moving to a new location. “Alhamdulillah, the TKA implementation there still ran smoothly,” said Antoni, Head of the Education and Culture Office of Limapuluh Kota Regency, in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. He explained that this situation stemmed from a technical issue that occurred precisely on the day of the TKA. The school, which had previously prepared for an online exam, had to face a power outage that directly impacted the wireless internet (WiFi) network at the intended location, which relies on electricity. “The mobile WiFi signal was unstable, making the implementation at the original location difficult,” Antoni stated. The school principal, along with teachers and students, then sought a spot with a better signal, even if it meant changing locations and relying on mobile phone connections. The TKA was thus held in a tent using mobile network. “The children and teachers took the initiative to find a spot with signal (cellular) so that the exam could still be carried out,” Antoni said. This swift action is seen as a tangible demonstration of the dedication and responsibility of teachers in the field. According to Antoni, without this initiative, the TKA implementation risked not proceeding as scheduled. This would undoubtedly create new problems for both students and the school, particularly in maintaining the continuity of the learning evaluation process. Antoni believes that the dedication of the teachers in the region deserves broader attention.
