Lilik new ITB rector

BANDUNG: Wiranto Arismunandar, rector the prestigious Bandung
Institute of Technology for two consecutive terms, will be
replaced by Lilik Hendrajaya in a ceremony on March 7.

Lilik is a professor in the physics department as well as its
deputy dean. His expertise is in geophysics.

Wiranto broke the news about his impending transfer after an
Idul Fitri gathering here Monday. This announcement was made to
dispel speculation that his term would be extended until after
the general election.

The Bandung Institute of Technology is known as one of
Indonesia's strongest hotbeds of student activism. It submitted
four candidates for the position and President Soeharto chose
