Lilies shines for East Java in archery meet
JAKARTA (JP): Lilies Handayani, the woman archer from East Java who was part of the Indonesian 1988 Olympic team which won the silver medal, scored the gold in the women's single at the national archery contest in Lampung on Saturday.
Antara reported that she defeated host archer Yuliasih with a devastating score of 102-84.
Lilies' triumph paved the way for overall victory for East Java, which collected eight gold medals, four silvers and three bronzes.
The bronze for the women's single was seized by Soka from Yogyakarta, who defeated Jaqueline from Jakarta by a marginal score of 93-91.
West Java's Hasbullah Toyib grabbed the gold in the men's single. He overcame Gusmadi from Jambi with 98-93.
Hasbullah entered the final after previously neutralizing Yusrizal, also from Jambi, with 97-89.
Mulyono from Jakarta overcame Yusrizal to take the third place and the bronze medal after a close match in which the Jakartan won 98-97. (hdj)
