Like Rock Climbing: Photos of Workers Suspended to Clean Monas
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is conducting an intensive cleaning of the National Monument (Monas) body. The cleaning activity is carried out by professional workers using the rope access method. This effort is being made to ensure Monas remains a representative and comfortable tourist destination for the public, while maintaining its beauty, cleanliness, and preservation. The activity also involves experts from the Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre to ensure the maintenance process for the capital’s icon adheres to the principles of historic building preservation. This special cleaning project for the monument’s body is a long-term initiative planned to last approximately six months. This is because the cleaning technique must be carried out in a measured manner and consider the safety aspects of the decades-old building materials. Although the cleaning activity is ongoing, Monas visiting services continue to operate as usual. Visitors can still enjoy the Monas area by following the officers’ directions for mutual comfort and safety.
