Lights at Istora Mandiri MRT Station Temporarily Out, Operations Remain Normal
The lights at Istora Mandiri Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station in South Jakarta were temporarily out following a power blackout in several parts of Jakarta. Electricity at the location has now been restored. Observations by detikcom at the site on Thursday (9/4/2026) at 18:40 WIB showed passengers coming and going, boarding and alighting at Istora Mandiri station. The situation at the location appeared normal. A security guard named Fikri (27) at the site said the blackout occurred at 17:56 WIB. The blackout affected the lights at Istora Mandiri station. “The lights went out at 17:56 WIB. These lights were out. But everything else was normal. The MRT kept running normally,” Fikri said at the location. He said there was no passenger buildup despite the lights being out. He mentioned that MRT journeys also continued normally. “They just went up and down, but it was dark. (Passengers) still entered. No buildup. This is normal too, the escalators too, just the lights,” he said. Fikri added that he did not yet know the cause of the power outage that occurred in the Jakarta area and at Istora Mandiri MRT that afternoon. “We haven’t got valid info yet, I’m afraid I might be wrong. Management hasn’t given actual info yet, about what. Yes. That’s it, only the lights, the emergency ones were on, but the others were live,” he concluded.
