Life is just not fair

From Kompas

I've been let go from my job as a TV anchor for a Chinese geography program on a private television station in Jakarta because I've been named a legislative candidate. I don't think the reason they gave: that as a TV anchor I can influence public opinion is appropriate, because my program has nothing to do with politics.

Several other actors and presenters have also been treated likewise. This treatment is just downright unfair.

Being an anchorman or anchorwoman is a profession. I wonder whether businessmen, clerics, lecturers or physicians, for example should quit their jobs before becoming legislative candidates. Are legislative candidates prohibited from appearing on the television? Am I not allowed to continue with my profession as an anchorwoman because I'm on TV and at the same time also a legislative candidate?

I hope that when government agencies related to the general elections draft regulations, these regulations must be proportional and do not violate our conscience.
