Jakarta – The Indonesian Life Insurance Association reported that the total revenue of the life insurance industry throughout 2025 reached Rp 238.71 trillion, representing year-on-year growth of approximately 9.3 per cent.

The association’s board chairman, Albertus Wiroyo, stated that this growth was primarily driven by improved investment returns. “Although total premium income experienced a slight decline of 1.8 per cent year-on-year, this situation more accurately reflects a shift in public preference regarding premium payment methods,” said Albertus during a press conference on the life insurance industry’s 2025 performance report on Friday 13 March 2026.

The number of insured persons in the life insurance industry also increased by approximately 8.6 per cent year-on-year to 168.03 million people.

From a product perspective, traditional life insurance premiums totalled Rp 113.03 trillion, rising by approximately 2.4 per cent compared to the previous period’s Rp 110.37 trillion. Meanwhile, unit-linked insurance premiums – a product linked to investment – were recorded at Rp 68.24 trillion, declining by approximately 8.2 per cent compared to the same period the previous year’s Rp 74.31 trillion.

Simultaneously, the life insurance industry continued to fulfil its protection function through the payment of claims and benefits to policyholders. During 2025, the industry paid out total claims and benefits of Rp 146.73 trillion to approximately 9.59 million beneficiaries.
