Licence Violations and Poisoning Cases: BGN Suspends 12 SPPG in Bangkalan

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily closed 12 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, following findings of operational permit violations and a food poisoning case.

“The 12 SPPG that have been closed are closed on a temporary basis,” said Bambang Budi Mustika, head of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme Task Force in Bangkalan, on Wednesday.

He said one finding in the field was an SPPG that did not yet have a Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL). In addition, the MBG Task Force and BGN team also found an SPPG that did not have a nutritionist.

“There is also an SPPG that does not yet have a head of SPPG, so it is still awaiting the replacement process before it can operate,” said Bambang Budi Mustika.

“Another case that prompted BGN to temporarily halt SPPG operations in Bangkalan is that funds had not yet been disbursed to their virtual account,” he added.

“So, once again, the closure is temporary. They will be able to resume operations once the requirements have been met,” he continued.

According to Bambang, the number of registered SPPG in Bangkalan Regency as of 28 July 2026 stood at 128 operating SPPG, with a total of 297,026 MBG beneficiaries.
