Library visitors in Jakarta reach 913,000 people

The total number of visitors to libraries in Jakarta reached 913,545 people up to June 2026, according to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Atika Nur Rahmania. This figure represents a 37.40 per cent increase compared to the first quarter of 2026.

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta reopened the Nyi Ageng Serang Library on 7 July, located on the 7th and 8th floors of the Nyi Ageng Serang Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, and it has received significant public enthusiasm. The library had ceased operations in 2020 before being revitalised by the DKI Jakarta Library and Archives Service (Dispusip) with a modern new look, services, and concept.

The 4,000-square-metre library provides more than 20,000 book copies, consisting of Deposit Collections, General Collections, Reference Collections, and Special Jakarta Collections. It will eventually operate until 10:00 PM Western Indonesia Time, similar to the Jakarta Library at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM).

Furthermore, the Jakarta libraries under the auspices of the DKI Jakarta Library and Archives Service received an ‘A’ grade, or ‘very good’ rating, with a score of 90.14 in Service Quality and Performance for the second quarter of 2026. This achievement was the result of a Public Satisfaction Survey conducted across all library services in Jakarta, involving 2,045 respondents from various age groups, education levels, occupations, visit frequencies, and disability categories.
