Liberian arrested with 100g heroin
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Police detectives arrested a 22-year-old Liberian allegedly in possession of 100 grams of heroin, worth about Rp 40 million (US$5,715), at a hotel in Petamburan subdistrict, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday night.
Jakarta Police chief of detectives Col. Alex Bambang Riatmodjo identified the suspect as Tejan P. Senecca.
"He said he came here last year and married a 20-year-old Ambonese, Agnes Cani. When we questioned him again, he said he came here as a tourist," Alex said.
"We caught him dealing with undercover police officers. He said he had the heroin, and we said we had the money. We did a body search, and found the heroin."
"We are still investigating the possibility that this man may have used his wife to deal drugs, as has happened in the latest drug cases involving foreigners."
Tejan said he arrived here some time between February and March last year and had married Agnes in November last year.
On Sunday evening, detectives arrested Zimbabwean Mecksom Ramsom, 37, for allegedly having 30 grams of heroin packed in an empty Marlboro cigarette pack.
Mecksom had prepared a passport and an open date return ticket to Sao Paulo, Brazil, under the name of Sriani, 37, an Indonesian woman.
"It's likely that Ramsom would send Sriani to Sao Paulo to get drugs and then bring the contraband back here." (01/ylt)
