LG Cup features 360 tae kwon doins

JAKARTA: About 360 athletes from 30 provinces are taking part
in the four-day National Tae Kwon Do Championship LG Cup, which
starts on Thursday at the Senayan Tennis Indoor in Central
Jakarta.

The competition, which will also serve as a qualifying event
for the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam this December, features
eight classes in the men's and women's divisions.

Agum Gumelar, chairman of the National Sports Council, is
scheduled to open the tournament, which has been sponsored by LG
Electronics Indonesia since 1999.

The opening day will feature action in the men's and women's
finweight and middleweight divisions, with the preliminaries
starting at 9 a.m. and the final to be held in the evening. --JP
