Levi's aims to be no.1 in RI in 2 years
JAKARTA: American jeans manufacturer Levi Strauss & Co said on
Monday it aimed for the number one spot in the Indonesian jeans
market within two years, expecting double-digit growth rates
ahead.
Levi's was ranked second for men denims and third for girl
denims, said its Asia Pacific president director John Anderson.
"The target will be a huge, double-digit percentage
increase ... we shall be number one in the next two years,"
Anderson told a press meeting.
He said Indonesia was a relatively new market for Levis,
compared with Singapore, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, where the
brand was the market leader.
Levi's shares the market here with local brands that Anderson
termed "good competitors", and has seen sales grow by 20 percent
to 30 percent over the last two years. -- JP
