Leveraging the IKN Ecosystem: MBTK SEZ Ready to Become an Investment Magnet
Muhammad Ade Himawan, Director of the MBTK SEZ Development and Management Agency (BUPP), emphasised the importance of regulatory support, infrastructure strengthening, and enhanced connectivity in developing the Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan Special Economic Zone (KEK MBTK). The zone is intended to serve as a leading business centre for industry, logistics, and natural resource-based exports in East Kalimantan.
Government support in developing airports, seaports, and toll roads is expected to bolster the zone’s connectivity and logistics systems, thereby increasing the attractiveness of KEK MBTK. Furthermore, regulatory support that facilitates ease of doing business is seen as a key driver for investment in the SEZ.
Additionally, the development of KEK MBTK is poised to utilise the growth and ecosystem of the New Capital City (IKN) as a primary driver for economic expansion in East Kalimantan.
