Leuwipanjang prepares to welcome the relocation of Cicaheum operations
Bandung (ANTARA) - Leuwipanjang Terminal in Bandung is preparing to handle the relocation of operations and all intercity bus routes from Cicaheum Terminal, which is expected to result in a surge of passengers reaching up to 12,000 per day during holiday periods.
The Head of Leuwipanjang Terminal, Asep Hidayat, stated that this major transition is being anticipated through the overhaul of service facilities, including the provision of toilets, showers, lockers, and spaces for the construction of special lounges by several major Bus Companies (PO) to enhance passenger comfort.
“Passengers need not only smooth transportation but also various supporting facilities, including proper waiting areas. Therefore, several PO companies have begun constructing special lounges so that their passengers and crew can rest more comfortably,” Asep said in Bandung on Saturday.
Prominent PO companies such as Budiman, Sugeng Rahayu, Sinar Jaya, Gunung Harta, Eka Mira, and Primajasa are also starting to centralise their operations at Leuwipanjang by opening representatives and lounges within the terminal area.
Regarding projections of a significant increase in passenger concentration and possible congestion, especially during holiday seasons, Asep said his team is encouraging the digitalisation of ticket services.
He added that although modernisation is being accelerated, the economic activities of local residents will not be sidelined.
“We want to ensure that this transition does not disadvantage traders. Access through the traders’ areas will be maintained so that their economic activities continue to run,” Asep stated.
Through this integration, Asep mentioned that Leuwipanjang Terminal is projected to become the main centre for intercity bus activities in Bandung, the capital of West Java, with higher comfort standards for holiday travellers.
