Letter from a Boy Abandoning His Baby Sister on a Nasi Uduk Cart After Mother's Death: Please Look After Her

A baby girl was found on a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident’s house in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. A note asking for the baby to be looked after was found. According to detikNews, Pasar Minggu Police Chief Comm. Anggiat Sinambela said the baby was found on Tuesday, 3 March, around 5:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Residents heard her crying and found the baby on the cart. The baby was placed inside a black shopping bag, wearing clothes and wrapped in a baby blanket. Inside the shopping bag were infant formula, wet wipes, and baby gloves. Then Dinda also found a handwritten note on a piece of paper. The note contained the baby’s identity and the older brother who abandoned her. ‘The baby girl is estimated to be two days old based on the writing on the paper, written by a person named Zidan, who is suspected of deliberately abandoning the baby at the scene,’ Anggiat said on Wednesday (4 March 2026). The note was written by someone named Zidan (12), the baby’s brother. The note states the baby was abandoned because her mother died. “Assalamualaikum, Sir/Madam who found my sister, I, Zidan, would like to ask you to take care of my sister. Because my mother died while giving birth. Please treat her as your own child because I will not be able to find or visit her again. I do not want her future to be like mine.
