Lestari Moerdijat Appreciates Painting Exhibition Supporting Cancer Survivors
Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat (Rerie) believes public support and compassion are greatly needed to uplift the spirits of patients in their fight against cancer.
“The ‘LOVE’ theme featured in this exhibition is not a symbol of romanticism, but rather a foundation that gives us all strength in facing trials, such as those experienced by cancer patients,” Rerie said in her statement on Saturday (14/2/2026).
The remarks were delivered during her speech at the opening of a solo painting auction and exhibition themed “L O V E” by painter Sonja Irawaty at Midaz Senayan and Golf, Jakarta.
Sonja’s paintings are inspired by the stories of people around her who have been affected by cancer. According to Rerie, the love expressed through Sonja’s paintings is capable of inspiring strength among the public to care for cancer patients.
Rerie hopes the love reflected through the paintings can spread the spirit of humanity to all of us.
“With love we can rise and pave the way for people to spread goodness to one another,” Rerie said.
On the occasion, Rerie also appreciated Sonja’s efforts in helping fellow cancer survivors on the northern coast of Java through the Pantura Cancer Community (Pancacom).
