REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING — The Auto China 2026 exhibition serves as a crucial platform for Chery Group to affirm its new strides in the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry. Amid the presence of over 4,000 international guests from more than 100 countries, the spotlight fell on the debut of their premium NEV brand, Lepas.

The launch of Lepas in Beijing is more than a mere ceremony. This moment signals the beginning of a phase that the company calls the “Year of Delivery”, a pivotal period demonstrating their readiness in terms of brand, products, and global network.

Chairman of Chery Automobile Co Ltd, Yin Tongyue, emphasised that global collaboration forms the cornerstone of the company’s journey. He stated that quality, innovation, and partnerships are more decisive than mere sales figures.

Amid shifts in the industry landscape, electric vehicles are no longer evaluated solely on technical aspects such as range or acceleration. Consumers are increasingly demanding a more personal and lifestyle-relevant driving experience. This is where Lepas aims to carve out its position.

CEO of Lepas, Zhai Xiaobing, noted that vehicles in the NEV era must deliver convenience, intuitive technology, and everyday comfort. The brand is built on this approach, supported by Chery’s global research and development network.

As an initial step, Lepas introduced three main models based on the LEX Platform: Lepas E4 EV, Lepas E6 EV, and Lepas L6 PHEV. This platform enables a more spacious cabin, quietness (excellent NVH), and long range (up to 1,300 km) with efficient energy consumption of 1.49 L/100 km.

The E4 EV model is designed for urban mobility needs. It is equipped with 160 kW power, independent multi-link suspension, and 21 driver assistance features (ADAS). With a range of up to 500 kilometres and fast-charging support, this model is said to soon arrive in the Indonesian market.
