Traffic flow on Lenteng Agung Road in South Jakarta towards Depok was observed to be heavy and congested on Friday morning (29 May 2026) due to a road subsidence that occurred overnight. TMC Polda Metro Jaya’s X account reported the information at around 6:30 AM WIB. According to TMC Polda Metro Jaya, the police have implemented traffic management by closing two lanes for vehicles heading from Jakarta to Depok. Currently, only one lane is available for vehicles. ‘The current traffic situation on Lenteng Agung Road in South Jakarta due to the road subsidence is congested. South Jakarta Traffic Police have implemented traffic management and closed two lanes from Jakarta to Depok; currently, only one lane is accessible for drivers,’ the @TMCPoldaMetro account stated. Authorities have also urged drivers to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion near the subsidence site. A resident named Youfar described the subsidence as a sinkhole with an estimated depth of 3 to 4 metres. ‘The road collapsed like a sinkhole. It happened around 10:30 PM WIB. The hole is about 3-4 metres deep. Firefighters and BPBD personnel are already at the scene,’ Youfar told Tribunnews. He added that the incident caused severe traffic jams on the road towards Depok. Based on videos circulating on social media, the road subsidence occurred on the left side of the road near the footpath. The hole appears to be large, with an estimated length of around 4 metres. The area around the site has been marked with orange traffic cones and rope barriers to prevent vehicles from approaching the collapse point. Several firefighters and members of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) are also on site to secure the area.
