JAKARTA — Following a temporary closure due to underground drainage repair works, access to Lenteng Agung Road heading south towards Depok is now being reopened gradually. Currently, one lane on the side of the railway tracks is available for vehicles, while other lanes remain closed pending the completion of construction and concreting processes to ensure safety for the public.

The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) has apologised as the road reopening could not proceed according to the original plan of 0_00 WIB. “We understand that this situation impacts the mobility of residents passing through the Lenteng Agung area,” said Budi at the site on Tuesday (2/6/2026). “Therefore, we apologise for the delay in reopening the road and advise the public to adjust their travel times and use the prepared alternative routes.”

Based on progress on the ground, the reopening of Lenteng Agung Road is being conducted in stages. The lane adjacent to the railway tracks was the first to be opened to alleviate the traffic congestion that occurred during the repair process. According to information from the Jakarta Water Resources Agency, the delay in completing the work was influenced by the process of closing and sterilising the area, which began at 14.00 WIB. Once the location was declared safe and clear, the main works could only proceed in full from 16.00 WIB.

The Transportation Agency emphasised that safety remains the primary consideration in the reopening process. Consequently, the government has opted for a gradual reopening rather than forcing all lanes to operate before the work is entirely finished. “The safety of workers and road users is our top priority. Therefore, all stages of the work must be carried out according to procedure so that the repair results are safe and can be used by the community again,” he stated.

Officers remain stationed around the location to manage traffic flow and assist motorists using alternative routes. The Jakarta Transportation Agency urges the public to follow the directions of officers on the ground and to monitor the latest information through official government channels. Updates regarding the road reopening will continue to be communicated to the public periodically.
