Lenteng Agung Road to Depok Closed Until Tuesday Morning – Alternative Routes Advised
The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Department (Dishub) has temporarily closed the Lenteng Agung Road section bound for Depok from 2 PM on Monday (1 June) until 5 AM on Tuesday (2 June) to facilitate repairs to an underground channel that had previously collapsed. Head of Jakarta’s Transportation Department, Budi Awaluddin, stated the closure is necessary to ensure road user safety, with urgent repairs needed to prevent further deterioration and potential hazards to drivers. “We apologise for the disruption caused. The temporary closure of Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok is due to ongoing underground channel repairs. We urge the public to prioritise safety during their journeys,” said Budi in Jakarta on Monday (1 June). During the works, Dishub DKI has implemented traffic management measures to allow field officers sufficient space for optimal repairs. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion around the project site. Budi added that officers have been deployed at strategic points to guide traffic flow, urging the public to comply with road signs and on-site instructions during the repair period. Dishub DKI aims to complete the works on schedule, restoring normal access to Depok by Tuesday morning. “We confirm the road will be reopened by 5 AM,” Budi concluded. Repair work on the collapsed section of Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok in South Jakarta has been expedited following further subsidence. To alleviate traffic congestion that began on Thursday (28 May) evening, police temporarily reopened access to Lenteng Agung Road in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. A waste transport truck belonging to South Jakarta’s Water Resources Office (Sudin SDA) fell into the sinkhole. A 3-metre deep, 4-metre long sinkhole occurred on Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok on Thursday (29 May) evening, causing traffic disruptions.
