The Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily closed the southbound section of Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok from 2pm on Monday, 1 June 2026, to 5am on Tuesday, 2 June 2026. The closure is part of repairs for a sinkhole on Lenteng Agung Raya in South Jakarta, carried out by the Water Resources Agency (SDA).

DKI Jakarta Transport Department Head Budi Awaluddin apologised to the public for the traffic disruption during repairs. ‘We apologise for the temporary closure of southbound Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok starting today. The closure is to facilitate underground channel repairs by the Water Resources Agency,’ he said in a statement on Monday, 1 June 2026.

During the works, the Transport Department has diverted traffic. Vehicles from Pasar Minggu to Depok are rerouted via Lenteng Agung Road, making a U-turn at JPL 23 railway crossing or Pancasila University roundabout, then proceeding to Moch. Kahfi II Road, Tanah Baru Road, and so on.

Alternative routes include U-turning at the horseshoe roundabout in front of IISIP Jakarta, then via Lenteng Agung Road, TB Simatupang Road, Kebagusan Raya Road or Cilandak KKO Road, before reaching Moh. Kahfi I Road and onward.

Motorists can also use TB Simatupang Road, Bogor Raya Road, UI Access Road, and so on. Heavy vehicles from Tanjung Barat to Depok are directed via Jagorawi Toll Road or Desari Toll Road, with alternatives via TB Simatupang Road, Bogor Raya Road, and UI Access Road.

Awaluddin stated the Transport Department has deployed officers at key points to assist the public and ensure smooth traffic flow during repairs. Officers are stationed at the horseshoe roundabout and Pancasila University roundabout to guide drivers to alternative routes.

‘We have officers on-site to direct residents to alternative paths. We also urge the public to follow on-site instructions for collective safety,’ he added.

As part of public awareness, the Transport Department has placed seven information banners at strategic points. Five are along Depok-bound corridors and two in Lenteng Agung to provide early notice of the temporary closure.

Awaluddin said the Jakarta Provincial Government is coordinating with relevant agencies to expedite repairs and minimise impacts on public mobility. Residents are advised to adjust travel times, use available alternative routes, and prioritise safety when passing work areas.

The sinkhole occurred on Thursday night, 28 May 2026, with a depth of approximately 3 metres and length of 4 metres. The collapse created a gaping hole, forcing authorities to close one lane and causing cars and motorcycles to queue.
