JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Permanent repairs to the sunken road on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung towards Depok in South Jakarta are targeted for completion within two to three days.

‘We are accelerating the repair to be finished within two to three days, ensuring the drainage channel is fixed,’ said South Jakarta Water Resources Agency Head Santo in a text message on Friday (29/5/2026).

Santo added that the permanent repairs would begin Friday night to minimise traffic congestion at the site.

‘Permanent repairs will commence this Friday night (29/5) to minimise the impact on traffic congestion, as daytime efforts are focused on clearing the traffic jam at the location,’ Santo said.

Previously, the Lenteng Agung area road had subsided, consuming two lanes and causing long traffic jams on Friday morning.

SDA officials suspect the road subsidence is linked to a crossing of the UI PHB (connecting channel) beneath the road.

‘It is true that beneath Jl Raya Lenteng Agung lies a UI PHB crossing, a honk (old channel) approximately 3 metres wide and 6 metres long,’ Santo said.

‘Field monitoring teams have confirmed that the area beneath the road is hollow, requiring serious handling by the SDA,’ said Rifki.

DKI Jakarta SDA urges the public to remain cautious when passing the area and to follow traffic arrangements during the repair process.

‘Comply with traffic management during the works,’ said Santo.
