Lenteng Agung road subsidence repairs expected to be completed in three days
Parts of the main road on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in Jagakarsa subdistrict, South Jakarta, subsided on Thursday evening (29 May 2026), leaving only one of three lanes passable for vehicles. Santo, head of South Jakarta’s water resources department (Sudin SDA), said the subsided section was approximately three metres wide, caused by structural damage to an underground water channel beneath the road. ‘The channel is old infrastructure whose structural condition has deteriorated due to the rainy season,’ Santo said in Jakarta on Friday (29 May 2026). Initial measures included temporary steel plate installation to ensure safety and traffic flow. Permanent repairs starting Friday evening will use a two metres wide by sixteen metres long concrete box culvert to replace the old structure. ‘The work is expected to take two to three days,’ Santo added. He urged drivers to exercise caution and comply with traffic management measures during the repairs.
