Lenteng Agung Road Subsidence Repair Causes Depok-Bound Traffic Closure
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Department has temporarily closed the southbound section of Lenteng Agung Main Road leading to Depok due to a subsidence issue. The closure is in place for underground channel repair works by the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Department (SDA).
Detikcom observed at the scene on Monday, 1 June 2026. The road closure began at 4pm WIB, with no vehicles passing through the affected area.
The closure begins at the Universitas Pancasila railway crossing. All vehicles heading towards Depok must detour by turning back and are directed via Mohammad Kahfi Road. Vehicles coming from Depok cannot turn around and are directed straight towards Universitas Pancasila.
Field officers initially directed motorcyclists to use residential roads as an alternative route via Gardu Road near the closure site. However, this measure was short-lived. Increased vehicle volume caused congestion in the residential streets. As a result, motorcyclists opted to return to the main road, causing chaotic traffic flow in front of the Universitas Pancasila railway crossing, particularly during Commuter Line services.
‘Downhill from Gardu Road is completely jammed, impossible to move,’ said road user Masis, 42.
‘From Lenteng, it’s closed right from the start. Motorcycles could get through a bit here, but then it’s closed again,’ he added.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Police Traffic Unit Chief Kompol Mujiyanto stated that his office is collaborating with the Transportation Department to manage traffic flow at the site.
