Lenteng Agung road subsidence repair 70% complete, concrete pouring scheduled tonight
Repair work on the sunken road in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, is 70% complete, with concrete pouring scheduled for tonight. ‘The installation of the box culverts is 90% complete, with only one remaining. The overall repair is about 70% done due to the upcoming concrete pouring, not to mention road cleaning,’ said Iwan K Santoso, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of South Jakarta Administrative City, to reporters at the site on Sunday (31 May 2026). He noted that work on the third day was hindered by four large PLN (state electricity company) cables. Excavation at the cable site was carried out today. ‘The tenth box culvert is still obstructed by four large and one small PLN cable. Excavation has been conducted today and the cables will be reconnected above the box culvert to be installed,’ he added. He stated that concrete pouring would also take place tonight on the road currently covered by steel plates, urging residents to be patient due to potential traffic congestion. ‘The concrete pouring on the steel plate-covered road is expected to take eight hours, so we hope the public remains patient as traffic jams are inevitable,’ he said. ‘Fortunately, tomorrow is a holiday, so we hope all work will be completed by Tuesday, leaving only site clean-up,’ he added. Iwan also mentioned that work was delayed by last night’s rain. ‘Last night’s rain caused significant water flow from the UI Lake, which hampered repair efforts around the sunken road area,’ he explained. Iwan explained there would be a power cut in the vicinity of the sunken road, lasting no more than two hours to address the PLN cables. ‘The power cut will affect areas towards Depok and slightly towards Lenteng Agung. PLN will provide specific details on the outage,’ he said. ‘If today’s excavation and reconnection proceed as planned, PLN is typically efficient, so the reconnection should take no longer than two hours,’ he added.
