South Jakarta City’s Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, Iwan K Santoso, warned of potential traffic congestion at the repair site on Lenteng Agung Timur Road in Srengseng Sawah Village, South Jakarta, tonight (31 May 2026). The road section will be concreted and asphalted starting this evening. ‘It will take eight hours, so we ask the public to be patient as traffic congestion is inevitable,’ Iwan said at the site on Sunday. According to Iwan, the road subsidence repairs have entered their third day. On Saturday (30 May 2026), the second day of repairs, installation of nine box culverts had begun. One more will be added, bringing the total to 10 to fill the collapsed section. However, as of Sunday afternoon, the installation of the tenth culvert was delayed due to electrical cable relocation work. ‘There are four large and one small electrical cables being moved. Excavation is ongoing to reroute them above the culverts,’ Iwan explained. ‘I have coordinated with PLN; excavation will take place today and the cables will be reconnected immediately. We apologise for the temporary power cuts,’ he added. The outages will primarily affect Lenteng Agung and surrounding areas, as well as Depok. ‘PLN has indicated the cable reconnection should take no more than two hours. Further details on power cuts will be provided by PLN,’ Iwan said. The repairs are now 70% complete.
