Lenteng Agung Road Reopening Conducted Gradually Since 08:00 WIB
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has announced that the reopening of Lenteng Agung Road, South Jakarta, is being carried out in stages on Tuesday (2/6), following the completion of repairs to underground drainage in the area.
The Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, explained that the road access reopening is divided into two phases. The lane on the railway track side is targeted to open at 08:00 WIB, while the lane on the opposite side is scheduled to follow at 11:00 WIB.
“We understand that this situation impacts the mobility of residents passing through the Lenteng Agung area. Therefore, we apologise for the delay in reopening the road,” Budi stated in an official release on Tuesday (2/6).
Budi added that the extension of the work duration was essential to ensure that the entire repair process was completed safely and optimally before being reopened to public vehicles.
According to data from the Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA), the delay in technical completion was triggered by the area sterilisation process, which only commenced at 14:00 WIB the previous day. Full physical work could only begin at 16:00 WIB once the location was confirmed to be clean and safe for workers.
“The safety of workers and road users is our top priority. All stages must follow procedure to ensure the repaired results are safe for reuse,” Budi emphasised.
To anticipate traffic congestion, Jakarta Transportation Agency officers remain stationed at strategic points around the location to manage vehicle flow and direct road users to provided alternative routes.
The Jakarta Provincial Government urges the public to continue following the instructions of officers on the ground and to monitor information updates through official government channels regularly.
The South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency reported that repairs to the subsided drain in Lenteng Agung have reached 75%. The road was temporarily closed until 05:00 WIB. The Jakarta Transportation Agency closed Lenteng Agung Raya Road towards Depok from Monday (1/6) at 14:00 WIB until Tuesday (2/6) at 05:00 WIB due to repairs on the subsided road.
